All but a couple of shorts on the list were closed last week and none were added this week because the screens identified no good short-term setups.
During the week ended Wednesday, July 9, out of 1705 stocks meeting institutional price and volume criteria:
Setups:
157 met major or intermediate trend buy setup criteria.
133 met major or intermediate trend sell setup criteria.
Tactics
For actionable trades, I am adjusting my focus to any that have triggered short-term signals over the past week instead of just the most recent day. If they remain well positioned as of my current visual review, I add them to the list.
From those setups, last week’s action produced 51 short-term buy signals and 0 sell signals. That’s right—zero. I suspect that this will change radically one day in the near future, but for now, the short-term setups were not there.
I visually reviewed the charts from the final filter and found a couple of4 buys that set up well on multiple time frames, mostly because they hadn’t yet participated in the rally so far. While I added a few to the list, late-stage movers are often the first to fail, which increases the risk of buying them now.
