The screens generated multiple buy side setups this week but the majority were biotech, which are not reliable in trading this method. I ignore those.
Only 1 buy looked like a classic setup and I added it to this week’s list. On the sell side, I liked 4 as shorts. That will leave the list tilted short going into 2026.
I am taking a holiday for the next week. The next report will be January 5. As a result, I am adding stocks to all existing and new picks.
Meanwhile, Happy holidays, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Thanks for your support this year!
During the week ended Friday, December 19, out of 1899 stocks meeting institutional price and volume criteria, the screens produced the following results :
Cumulative lists of longer-term setups:
- 241 resting big gainers unchanged from last week, and
- 324 sleeping dogs, up from 318 last week.
- 142 breakout charts last 7 months- up from 141
- 111 breakdown charts last 7 months – up from 110
Weekly screens of cycle positions.
265 met strict major or intermediate trend buy setup criteria up from 75. 63 triggered short term, however, most were biotech, which typically do not correlate with the market or trade in reliable trends, cycles and patterns.
300 met strict major or intermediate trend sell setup criteria, up from 83. 21 triggered short term. I noted that the quality of the sell setups were superior to the buy setups.
Tactics
For actionable trades, I visually review charts that triggered short term signals from the prescreened structural candidates. I chose just one buy and one short to add to the list this week. The rest were rangebound and too ambiguous to be strong low risk, high reward candidates.
I also review the existing issues on the list for whether to close, hold, or add or adjust stops. Here are the results of my final review for this week.
Trade Selections and Adjustments
- 5 new picks, 1 Buy, and 4 Shorts. Note protective stops because of 2 week interval until next update.
- 2 existing buy picks were stopped last week (See table)
- Only 2 picks remain open, 1 buy, 1 short, with stops
