Swing Trade Screen Picks and Results – February 17, 2026

The list currently has an average gain 2.7% on an average holding period of 17 calendar days, including open picks and those closed out last week.

During the week ended Friday, February 13, out of 1899 stocks meeting institutional price and volume criteria, the screens produced the following results :

Cumulative lists of longer-term setups:

  • 361 resting big gainers, up from 350 last week
  • 387 sleeping dogs, up from 378 last week.
  • 154 breakout charts last 9 months- unchanged from 151 last week
  • 118 breakdown charts last 9 months – up from 112

Weekly screens of cycle positions.

  • 63 met strict major or intermediate trend buy setup criteria, down from 184. Of all bullish longer term setups, 114 charts triggered short term buy signals, down from 146 the prior week.
  • 69 met strict major or intermediate trend sell setup criteria, up from 57. Of all bearish longer-term setups, 67 charts triggered short term sell signals, up from 27 the prior week.

Tactics

For actionable trades, I visually review charts that triggered short term signals from the prescreened structural candidates. I also review the existing issues on the list for whether to close, hold, or add or adjust stops. Here are the results of my final review for this week.

Trade Selections and Adjustments

  • 6 new picks, including 5 buys and one short.  See table below.
  • No existing picks were closed last week. I have set 4 to be sold as of the opening price Tuesday (Monday holiday).
  • 8 earlier picks will remain open, 7 buys, 1 short

Current Performance

Picks closed so far in February had an average gain of 1.3% on an average holding period of 23 calendar days. Picks currently open have an average gain of 3.7% and an average holding period of 13 calendar days. Overall, that equates an average gain of 2.7% on an average 17 day holding period in February.
