Swing Trade Screen Picks and Results, More Buys Than Shorts Again – February 23, 2026

The list currently has an average gain 3.0% on an average holding period of 16 calendar days, including open picks and those closed out last week.

During the week ended Friday, February 20, out of 1899 stocks meeting institutional price and volume criteria, the screens produced the following results :

 Cumulative lists of longer-term setups:

  • 365 resting big gainers, up from 361 last week
  • 393 sleeping dogs, up from 387 last week.
  • 156 breakout charts last 9 months- up from 154 last week
  • 119 breakdown charts last 9 months – up from 118

 Weekly screens of cycle positions.

  • 57 met strict major or intermediate trend buy setup criteria, down from 63. Of all bullish longer term setups, 122 charts triggered short term buy signals, up from 114 the prior week.
  • 41 met strict major or intermediate trend sell setup criteria, down from 69. Of all bearish longer-term setups, 32 charts triggered short term sell signals, down from 67 the prior week.

Tactics

For actionable trades, I visually review charts that triggered short term signals from the prescreened structural candidates. I also review the existing issues on the list for whether to close, hold, or add or adjust stops. Here are the results of my final review for this week.

Trade Selections and Adjustments

  • 5 new picks, including 4 buys and one short.  See table below.
  • 5 existing picks were closed last week. I have set 6 to be closed as of the opening price Monday (see table below).
  • 7 earlier picks will remain open, all buys

Current Performance

Picks closed so far in February had an average gain of 4.9% on an average holding period of 22 calendar days. Picks currently open have an average gain of 1.0% and an average holding period of 11 calendar days. Overall, that equates an average gain of 3.0% on an average 16 day holding period in February.
